Touch Up Paint Application

I’ve been wanting to get my car looking good again for a while, Dragon mentioned that there is a good detailing guy in town, so on my way back from work I stopped in and talked to him for a bit. I got semi-bad vibes off him though, he was on his way out somewhere, with a batch of kids, and didn’t seem hugely interested in helping me out or selling me on his service. He did point out an ugly paint chip with rust in it on my hood though, so now that is occupying my mind.

I did some quick research online for reference and found some good information.

I think I’ll stop by some random auto finishing shop on the way home and see if they can give me any good info or suggestions as well, or a cheap-ass price to do it for me, as I’m not sure I feel comfortable sanding down my hood.

  1. The guy who my car every random amount of time gives me bad vibes and yaks to much… but he’s fast/good/cheap, so I’ve put up with it. Try find a place where you don’t have to worry about getting your own ride…

  2. Do you have touchup paint for your car? What I’ve done in the past is clean out the rockchip, then add the touchup the paint. I didn’t worry too much if I didn’t do that good of a job as I would go to the detailing place then and they would cut polish it anyways. Worked fairly well on my golf when there aren’t too many.
When I sold it with 200,000km the hood at too many rock chip, and would have needed a repaint.
PS, I’m always amazed on what detailers can do to a car.;)
