Buffy Finale

Well, tonight was the big Buffy the Vampire Slayer season series finale. Read no further if you don’t want spoilers.

While Derek might not agree I did think it was kinda cool. No big death scene, and the big-ass magic act that Willow did wasn’t really seen, and if it was indeed “deeper than the deepest I’ve gone” then the special effects must get less the deeper you go.

I’d heard rumors that Buffy dies in the finale, and really, why wouldn’t she, as she’s died a couple of times before. Probably started by UPN to keep the ending a surprise.

What else.

Yes, no “Spuffy Sex” anymore, but I kinda liked spike, and I know that him dying has left Firefly an emotial wreck. She’ll need days and days of seasons 1-6 to recover I think. It was a cool way to get rid of him and tie up that whole loose end (no pun intended). I was a bit dissapointed that more people didn’t die. They seemed to start dropping and I was like “yay! finally a good morbid ending in true tragedy style!”, but no, they wimped out and made it a “happy” ending. It does leave more than a couple of unanswered questions. What is the world going to do with all the potentials-now-slayers. Isn’t someone going to notice suddenly that a whole lot of girls are kicking a lot of serious ass? And if there was only enough evil in the world that it only needed one slayer at a time, isn’t it safe to say that life will be pretty boring for said slayers?

Oh well, it was a fun show, far smarmier than the rest of the season, which was good, I’d missed that, and things are tied up but leaving a possibility of at least another couple of different series, or a movie, or at least a guest appearance or two on Angel.
