Well, took in my Windows box to Discovery Computers where I got it a month ago to get the power supply replaced. That went just fine, but while he was ripping the old one out and putting the new one in he noticed a strange noise (which honestly wasn’t there before that I noticed) that turned out to be the fan on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro was giving it’s death throes 🙁
The fan was complaining as it moved, and it was hardly doing that. This was new to me, but could explain why when gaming I’ve been having occasional problems. He blamed the large amounts of dust, but while it is dusty (damn cats) none of the other video cards with fans had any problems. So Windows box now has my old GeForce card is back in and the ATI is going back for an exchange (yay for warranties).
