Battlestar Galactica

So the new
Battlestar Galactica series started this weekend (up here in Canada we got the first episode after the miniseries, in the US it was two) and I have to say, it kicked ass. I saw the three hour, two part miniseries on DVD (again) last weekend over at Sean’s place, so that got me back in the spirit so that I was pretty hyped up about seeing the new series start. I actually have gotten the first bunch of films already (they have played 11 episodes so far in the UK), but haven’t watched them yet ๐Ÿ™‚ While doing some cleaning tonight (again, so much for the whole “get a decent amount of sleep… no more going to bed past 10:30 or 11” thing) I came across some of the stuff mom and dad had brought over and discovered that even in my youth I thought Battlestar Galactica was cool! The pic is of some tins that either mom or dad had covered with kick ass 1978 Battlestar Galactica wallpaper for me! What a classic!

  1. Isn’t it great! I just watched the 11th episode on the weekend and I like the way the series is developing. It’s also cool to know it’s shot in Vancouver. The opening seen with Boomer on a ramp is just around the corner from where I work.
I’ve only seen the shortened 3 hour movie on TV and want to see the un-edited version as I know they pulled some stuff to fit that 3 hour TV time slot (it was 4 hours originally I believe).

  2. Well, the DVD was the same as what I saw on TV, and 3 hours, so I think that you probably saw the full deal. What opening ramp scene btw? Inside the hanger or outside on Caprica?
Think I’m going to start watching this on my lunch breaks ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’ve watched all of the episodes as they’ve been coming off of the British station that’s showing them. The show is astoundingly good – I’d wager it’s the best science fiction series in decades.
The character development has been really well done, and they’ve made some great nods towards the original series (more than just character names… one of the original Battlestar Galactica actors will show up in a future episode, and there are echoes of the old theme song )
