I’ve been thinking more and more about the massive file storage I pondered before, even though my idea of 3x320Gig in a RAID5 (640G) is far short of others idea of massive. For example, there’s a good story on slashdot on Building a Massive Single Volume Storage Solution. This guy is looking for a petabyte, which is just a wee bit over my requirements (and budget), however there are some good links and ideas in there for filesystem, set up, etc, that can theoretically be adapted to smaller scale setups.
Links of note: the petabox, xSan, GFS and AFS.
