Welcome to a new experiment in my journal. I’ve decided to try doing this whole thing with a new content management system, instead of by hand as I’ve been doing for the last few (many) years. If it works nicely, I might continue, if not, I’ll go back to the way things were before, but for the next month or so, I’ll be playing around with things, trying out new stuff, and what not.
My biggest fear is probably that my style of journalling and writing will change. Before I could pretend that I was writing for myself, but now with things like comments, trackback (I’ll explain that later), and what not I really can’t help but know that there’s people out there watching, and perhaps responding. I don’t want to start “blogging” (regardless that this is at https://arcterex.net/blog), and turn what I write here into an array of links and basically contentless postings as many other blogs have. Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for that, but this journal was originally for me to voice my personal thoughts, experiences, and late night pizza induced dreams.
Well, actually it was originally a way for me to let my parents know what I was doing after I moved out…
Anyway, I want to keep this journal a journal, not a blog. Here’s hoping I can.
On the upside, the software, Movable Type will allow me to handle multiple site (I can create a separate place to put in dreams for example….) do all the archiving for me, and keep things nice, and uh….. “stuff”.
Anyway, I’m sure things will be evolving for a while (read: it’ll be a while before I fix everything that’s not working), so bear with…
