Pentax K10D (10mp) Info Leaked

OOohhhh…. found this in the pentax forums today. Looks like Steve’s Digicams accidently loaded a press release ahead of time for the much-rumored Pentax K10D…. It’s gone now (though you can see the broken page if you go to the site, hit breaking news, set the ‘to date’ to 9/14/2006, and hit search). A PDF of the page was saved by an alert reader and is available. There are also links to images (take the x off the links to view). Oh what the heck, I’ll link from here… back, top and angled.

Short story (assuming that all this is real of course) is:

  • 10.2 megapixel CCD
  • Shake reduction in body, no need for special expensive lenses, I can use SR with my fully manual 50mm/1.4 (though you have to enter the focal length in via the SR menu)
  • Dust reduction mechanism
  • ISO 100-1600 (no 3200?)
  • 3 frames per second to card capacity (jpg) or 12 frames (raw)
  • 2.5″ LCD
  • 140g heavier and slightly bigger than the *ist-D (K10D 141.5 x 101 x 67.5 mm vs *ist-D 129 x 95 x 60 mm)
  • Different battery apparently, no more AA compatible power 🙁
  • SD flash cards (expected, still sucks cause I’m still all CF)
  • Auto-organize into day-by-day picture folders on the flash card (it seems…. cool feature for sure)
  • RAW+JPG
  • Extended bracketing, contrast, saturation, sharpness and white balance
  • Compatible with pretty much all of the billions of pentax lenses out there (K, KA, KAF, KAF2, screw mount and 645 and 67 (with adapter)
  • Shipping November 2006 for $899 US or $999 with 18-55mm

Oh so tempting!
