OK, I think I have this thing fixed. The database curruption wasn’t that bad, I had to basically dump all the entries from this blog, create a complete new Movable Type install and a new database to go with it, import the entries into it, then reset my original install to point to the new

I discovered that under gentoo that Apache2 + mod_perl = memory leak. Somewhere in all the crunching as my machine ground away on 0 bytes of memory some databases got currupted, so right now I’m working on getting the templates for my blog back up and going. Those reading by RSS won’t notice, however I’ve installed the newly released Movable Type 3.2. Gotta say, the upgrade process was nice, and some of the features (built in plugins, anti-spam stuff, auto-backup of templates, ability to revert to default templates, etc) are pretty nifty.

Just threw the new version of MovableType up. This is a proactive measure to eliminate the high CPU loads due to comment spam that I’m seeing on UFies. I’m wondering if I should also throw in this hack which adds posters of comments which match comment spam to an .htaccess deny file, but we’ll see

Yea, I’m messing with the newest MT because I wanted a change, better ways to kill off comment spammers, etc etc. Hopefully all links will stay the same and things will work properly. If the RSS feeds are messed up I’ll fix ’em up in the next bit, along with everything else that I broke.
